About Isotretinoin Capsules
Isotretinoin is a retinoid taken by mouth for severe nodular acne that hasn’t improved with other treatments, including antibiotics. It is very effective, but it can cause serious birth defects, so in the US it can only be prescribed, dispensed and taken under the FDA’s iPLEDGE program, with pregnancy tests and monthly check-ins.
Isotretinoin can also affect mood, the liver, blood fats and night vision, so treatment is supervised by a dermatologist.
