About Acyclovir 400 mg Tablets
Acyclovir is an antiviral medicine for infections caused by herpes viruses. It treats outbreaks of genital herpes and cold sores, and taken every day it can reduce how often genital herpes comes back. It does not cure herpes or completely stop it from spreading.

How to use
Take exactly as prescribed – for example 1 tablet three times a day for an outbreak, or twice a day to prevent outbreaks. Start as soon as symptoms appear and drink plenty of water.
Follow the directions on your prescription and the pharmacy label. Ask your prescriber or pharmacist if you have questions.
Possible side effects
- Nausea, vomiting or diarrhea
- Headache
- Tell your doctor if you have kidney problems – the dose may need changing
